Robert Hays Radnich MD, formerly of Dover, Delaware, died on April 5th, 2023 at The Country House in Wilmington, Delaware with his wife of 45 years by his side. He was 81 years old.
Born in Oklahoma City, OK, Robert was the youngest son of Frances Hays Radnich and Spencer I. Radnich Sr. He was predeceased by his parents and older brother, Spencer I. Radnich Jr.
In addition to his wife, Diane, Bob is survived by his two sons, Christopher H. and Ross A. Radnich; granddaughter, Morgan A. Radnich and her mother Jennifer Radnich. He is also survived by his two daughters from a previous marriage, Kathryn L. McKernan and Gabrielle M. Arwadi, their spouses and four children; sister-in-law, Gayle Radnich; and many nieces and nephews.
Simply known as Bob or Doc to family, friends and colleagues, he graduated from Norfolk Senior High School, Norfolk, Nebraska in 1960 and Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri in 1964. Following graduation, he went to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he earned his medical degree. He then began his US Naval career. Bob completed his internship at the US Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, Virginia; followed by a tour of duty at The National Regional Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where he first started practicing as an OB-GYN. His next assignment was at the Regional Medical Center, in Jacksonville, Florida, where he resigned from the Navy in 1976 after attaining the rank of Commander. It was in Jacksonville that he met and married his wife, Diane, a Navy nurse. Together they moved to Arvada, Colorado to continue his career. In 1980, the couple moved to Dover, Delaware, where Bob became a partner in the Dedicated to Women Group. He practiced OB-GYN at Bayhealth, Kent General Hospital for 31 years, retiring in 2011.
Bob was a quiet, gentle, caring man who was a devoted husband and father. He was a respected member of both the Dover and medical communities. He was devoted to his work as a physician and loved taking care of his patients; especially bringing new babies into the world! He enjoyed many outdoor activities including tennis, skiing, biking, golf and assisting with his sons' outdoor scouting activities. He was an avid sports fan, following all the Philly sports teams (especially the Eagles) as well as endless golf tournaments and football games. Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Diane both stateside and abroad, participating in many classes through OSHER Life Long Learning, reading history books and honing his culinary skills with some really amazing results!
There will be a memorial service at The Country House in Wilmington on Friday April 21st in Danby Chapel at 11:15 AM.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Maple Dale Country Club in Dover for friends, neighbors, and colleagues on Saturday, April 22nd from 2 – 4 PM.
Burial at Arlington National Cemetery with military honors will be private at a later date.

So sorry to hear of Bobs passing. Prayers of comfort for you, Diane and your family. I´m so glad you and Bob chose Dover to grace with your love and contributions in so many areas other then just the OB practice. I enjoyed my years working in the practice with our group and Dr. Radnich.

I had the honor and pleasure of working with Bob for many years in labor and delivery. He was an excellent physician , and his sense of humor could always make me laugh. Trace had the opportunity to bike with Bob on several Bike to the Bay rides and enjoyed his company. So sorry to hear of his passing ; he was a special man.

Dear Diane,
We just heard today that Bob died, from Greg Hammer.
What a lovely man and true professional. I enjoyed him most in OLLI CLASSES. here inDover. You could always tell when he wanted to say something. His eyes twinkled.
You two were a wonderful pair and I enjoyed hearing your Roads Scholar adventures.
You both made a difference in the Dover community. Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Radnich's passing. He was my OB and delivered my son in 1996. I absolutely adored him! He made me and my husband feel so at ease and I'll always remember him watching the Phillies game with my husband while I was in labor and joking about me interrupting the game when it came time to deliver. He was such a nice man!
My sincere condolences to his family.

Dr. Radnich was a special man. I worked with him from 1987 to 1997 then 1999 until his retirement. He was certainly missed when he retired, and it was great to see him when he came to tumor conferences and other learning events.
He had a great sense of humor, but at the bedside, he was 100% professional to his patients.
RIP Dr. Radnich. Until we meet again.

We are so saddened with this news. Bob not only was my doctor and delivered one of our children but a very good friend. Diane we wish you comfort and healing from the long fight you suffered with Bobs illness, always there with him. God bless you and your family.

Great freind, great doctor.. Delivering three of my kids, one during a snow storm... I mean Blizzard, "if you can get to the hospital I'll be there too". The Gentle giant on the bike. Always a kind word, not too many as good as Doctor Bob. Made the world a better place. Will be missed.

If tears could build a stairway and memories were a lane We would walk right up to heaven And bring you back again.
No farewell words were spoken No time to say goodbye You were gone before we knew it And only God knows why.
Our hearts still ache in sadness and secret tears still flow What it meant to lose you No one will ever know.
But now we know you want us To mourn for you no more To remember all the happy times Life still has much in store.
Since you'll never be forgotten We pledge to you today A cherished place within our heart Is where you'll always stay. Love You Dad!
