Rae DeRenzis, a longtime resident of Pelham, NY, passed away on February 8, 2026, at The Paramount at Somers. She was 101 years old.
Born in 1924 to Frank and Maria Lore, she was one of fourteen siblings. Rae was raised in New Rochelle and graduated from New Rochelle High School. In 1945, she married her first husband, Alfred, and together they raised their son and daughter. Alfred passed away in 1977.
In 1982, Rae married Kenneth DeRenzis, and the two shared many happy years together until Kenneth’s passing.
Rae was a proud and hardworking business owner. She owned and operated Rae’s Luncheonette on Fifth Avenue in Pelham, NY, as well as the Village Luncheonette on Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck. Her establishments were well known in the community and reflected her warm personality and love of good food.
She retired in the early 1990s and cherished her retirement years, especially the time spent with her beloved grandchildren. Rae was an avid boater who enjoyed being out on the water aboard with her family on their powerboat, and she had a special fondness for clamming.
Above all, Rae’s greatest passion in life was sharing her cooking with others. Her food brought people together and left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to enjoy it.
Rae is survived by her son Alfred (Debbie) Arvonio, her grandchildren, Lauren and Alfred and her great grandchildren as well as her son in law Nick Ruccolo.
Rae is predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Arvonio, her second husband, Kenneth DeRenzis and her beloved daughter, Virginia Ruccolo.
