Rafael

Mission – Rafael Olivarez III was born on January 23, 1948 in Camargo, Mexico, to the late Estela Ramirez and Rafael Olivarez Jr., went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2026. He is proceeded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish Rafael's memory his wife "Norma Caro" three children April Deleon (Michael), Elijah Olivarez, Alyssa Olivarez, and grandson Dennis Vicent Deleon.

Rafael's life was devoted to education and service. He graduated from Pan American University in Edinburg, TX and Loyola University in Chicago, IL and dedicated his career to shaping young minds. He began as a Reading Educator in Edinburg ISD, where his passion for language and learning took root in the classroom. He then continued his journey at La Joya ISD and Hidalgo ISD as a masterful Librarian, fostering curiosity, literacy, and a lifelong love of reading in countless students. His leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence ultimately led him to serve as a Principal in Mission CISD, where he guided his campus with honesty, compassion, and wisdom. His legacy lives on in the generations of students and educators he inspired.

Rafael Olivarez will be remembered as a loving and caring father whose steady presence and unwavering support shaped the lives of those closest to him. A devoted Christian man, he lived his faith through quiet acts of kindness, integrity, and compassion. Rafael was a loyal friend and trusted confidante, always ready with wise counsel, encouragement and a listening ear. He approached his profession with dedication and pride, working tirelessly and finding deep fulfillment in the work he loved. Through his commitment and heart for service, he made a lasting impact on countless children and colleagues, leaving behind a legacy of faith, friendship, and meaningful influence that will continue to be felt for years to come.
