Raffaella Bastone Obituary

Published by Legacy on Apr. 1, 2025.
Raffaella Bastone, 96, of New City, peacefully passed into Eternal Life on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Born on December 16, 1928, in the town of Dipignano, Calabria, Italy, she was raised in a close-knit, hardworking family. From an early age, Raffaella's dedication to her family's farm instilled in her a deep sense of purpose, a strong work ethic, and an unwavering love for her roots-a love that would remain with her throughout her life.
In 1948, Raffaella married the love of her life, Salvatore Bastone, who predeceased her in 2008. Together, they built a beautiful life, grounded in love, resilience, and a devotion to family.
In October 1967, Raffaella and her family moved to the United States, first settling in Manhattan before eventually making their home in the Morris Park section of the Bronx, where she lived until 2009.
Raffaella's legacy lives on through her loving children: Franco and his wife, Carmelina, of Bardonia; Paolino and his wife, Blanca, of Yorktown Heights; and Rosetta and her husband, Domenic Barone, of Edmonton, Canada. She also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Salvatore and his wife, Melissa, Vincenzo and his wife, Andrea, Paolino Jr. and his wife, Vanessa, Christina, Gianfranco and his wife, Danielle, Anthony and his wife, Jill, and Stefania and her husband, Matteo. In addition, Raffaella was blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, whom she was fortunate to have met. Her memory will also be carried forward by nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will cherish the stories of her love, wisdom, and life.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Raffaella's strength, warmth, and kindness were the foundation of her family. She found joy in the simple moments-whether it was sharing meals with loved ones (no one ever left her house without at least one plate of something), passing down traditions, or delighting in the unexpected visits from her grandchildren, who always knew they'd be spoiled with love... and food.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved Salvatore. While she will be deeply missed, Raffaella's spirit will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 14th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet. Interment will follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Raffaella, please visit our Tree Store.
