Rajeshwar Kumar Nangia, fondly known as Raj or Roger, passed away peacefully at his home in Pittsburgh, PA, on February 21, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on October 12, 1931, in India, he was the son of the late Jai Dev Lal Nangia and Parvati Devi Nangia.
Raj was a proud graduate of the University of Aachen in Germany, where he earned a master's degree in metallurgical engineering. His career spanned various engineering engagements, where he successfully designed Electric Arc Furnaces, leaving a legacy in his field. He has lived in India, Germany, and Canada before he settled in the United States in 1970, where he then spent the remainder of his life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, while continuing to enjoy traveling the world.
Raj was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ramesh Nangia, Krishan Nangia, and Bhimsen Nangia. He is survived by his daughters, Anita Dressel (Markus) of Pennsylvania and Monica St. Jacques of Virginia, as well as his son, Roger Nangia (Pooja) of Pennsylvania. His grandchildren, Elena Dressel, Angelina Dressel, and Olivia Dressel, brought him much joy.
He is also survived by his sister, Uma Madan, in India, and his former wife, Sushma Nangia, of New Jersey. Raj was dearly loved by his extended family, including his sisters-in-law's Rekha Nangia, Chander Nangia, Kiran Nangia and many nieces and nephews.
