Ralph (Billy) W. Call (aka Buck), age 55, of
Saluda, VA, passed away on January 24, 2026, at VCU Medical Center Critical Care Hospital in
Richmond, VA.
He was born on October 31, 1970, in
Richmond, VA to Charles W. Call, Sr. and Beverly J. Johnson.
Billy is survived by his brothers, Charles Call (Kathy) of
Saluda, VA, and Samuel Call (Lindsey) of
Greensboro, NC; two sisters, Tracey Ashburn (Chris) of
Lancaster, VA, and Lynne Shumaker of
McKenney, VA; and many nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Melvin and Frances Call, and maternal grandparents Charles and Patricia Johnson; and his brother, Melvin Call.
Those who knew Billy will remember his infectious laugh and the way he could light up any room he entered. He had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, whether at a family gathering or meeting someone for the first time. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always the first to offer help to a friend or neighbor in need. Above all, he cherished time with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Billy lived life fully and on his own terms, with a spirit of adventure that inspired those around him. His sense of humor was legendary, and he had a knack for finding joy in the simple things. He leaves behind countless memories of laughter, loyalty, and a well-lived life. He was a devoted brother, friend, and confidant who stood by those he loved through thick and thin. His loyalty was absolute, and his support unwavering. He had a remarkable ability to remember the small details that mattered most to people, always showing up when it counted. His presence brought comfort and stability to those around him, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
Billy was known for his straightforward nature and honest approach to life. He spoke his mind with respect and expected the same in return. There was no pretense about him-what you saw was what you got, and people appreciated his authenticity. He valued genuine relationships over superficial ones and built lasting friendships based on trust and mutual respect. He had contagious energy and a personality that drew people in. Whether telling stories, cracking jokes, or simply enjoying good company, he knew how to make any occasion memorable. His zest for life reminded everyone around him not to take things too seriously and to find reasons to celebrate. The memories of good times shared with him will bring smiles for years to come.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 pm on February 4, 2026, at Currie Funeral Home, 116 E. Church St,
Kilmarnock, VA 22482.
