Ralph Douglas Tuttle, affectionately known as “Doug,” age 68, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Born on June 30, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, Doug was the cherished son of the late Ralph Melvin Tuttle and Winnie Patricia (Wallace) Tuttle. He graduated from Indianapolis Baptist High School in 1976, the same year he began a distinguished career of service in the United States Army. Doug proudly served his country from 1976 until his retirement in 2016, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. His dedication, leadership, and sacrifice left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him.

Doug was a man of many gifts and passions. A proud Texan with a love for the mountains, he found joy in simple pleasures—playing his guitar, cheering at baseball games, and caring for his animals. He delighted in making birthday cakes for friends and bringing Christmas cheer by dressing up as Santa. Though he carried the look of a tough biker, Doug’s family and friends knew him as a giant, soft-hearted teddy bear. His faith was central to his life, and he lived as a devoted Christian.

Doug’s idea of family went far beyond blood. If he considered you family, he also considered himself your protector. He welcomed others wholeheartedly—accepting his wife and her children and grandchildren as his own, embracing his troops as brothers and sisters, and treating neighbors and friends as lifelong kin. For Doug, family was not defined by name or bloodline, but by love and loyalty.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, Doug was preceded in death by other beloved family members who welcomed him home.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patrice Evelyn Tuttle; his daughter, Amanda (Tuttle) Patrick, and her husband Darrell Patrick. Doug was a proud grandfather to Haley Nicole Patrick, Gavin Douglas Patrick, and Easton Bradley Patrick, who brought him immense joy.

He is also survived by his siblings, David Tuttle, Diane Tuttle, and Denise Pinette; nieces and nephews Carson Tuttle, Theresa Kibler (Tuttle), Jerica Burchfield, Desiree Pope, and Beth Pinette; as well as great-nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.

Doug will be remembered for his strong sense of duty, his endless capacity to love, and his unwavering dedication to both his family and his country. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
