Ralph Leonard Dimenna, 99, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Trinity View Assisted Living in Arden.
Ralph was born in Rotterdam Junction, NY on May 25, 1924 to the late Leonardo and Lucia Farinella Dimenna. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 52 years, Shirley Dimenna; his second wife, Audrey Dimenna; four sisters, Pauline Serafino, Lillian Rose Aldi, Maria Stella Gigante and Mary Saveria Domblewski and two brothers, Joseph DiMenno and Vincent Leonardo DiMenno.
Ralph was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran serving with the Fighting 69th Infantry in France and Germany. After returning home he became a development engineer and manager with IBM. He was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. He loved traveling, cruises, golfing and dancing. He and Audrey were the founding members of Trinity View dance group. His trip to Italy where he traced his roots was one of his fondest memories. He loved his family dearly.
Ralph is survived by his five children; Richard Allen Dimenna (Sharon), Michael Dimenna (Darlene), Grey Jeffrey Dimenna (Nancy); Florence Susan Presnell (Ralph) and Catherine Elizabeth Way; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16th at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Swannanoa. Interment with military honors will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Black Mountain.
The family thanks the staff at Trinity View for their kind and loving care. They would also like to thank a special caregiver, Katie Ledford.
