Ralph Engstrom Obituary
Wes was born April 11, 1933, in Rockford, Illinois. He graduated from East Rockford High School, Nebraska University and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Wes married Carol Freed on July 21, 1962. He served as an Evangelical Free Church pastor for 44 years in Satellite Beach, FL, Bloomington, MN, Libertyville, IL and Lakehurst, NJ.
He retired in 2002 and returned to the Rockford area a year later. He served as chaplain at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center for several years. Wes was an active member of First Evangelical Free Church where he served as an elder, Sunday School teacher and song leader.
Wes was a diehard Cub fan, enjoyed taking photos, singing and spending time with family. He loved people and had a great sense of humor. Wes was a faithful servant for Jesus, a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa.
He is survived by his wife Carol; a son Steven (Danielle) Engstrom; 2 daughters: Kerri (Steven) Mason, Wendy (James) Pellitteri); a sister Kathleen (Jeffrey) Munson; and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at First Free Rockford, 2223 N. Mulford Rd., Rockford. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Family prefers memorials to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School or First Free Rockford. To share a memory or condolence, visit olsonfh.com.
