Ralph Francis Ghumm, 77, of Oronogo, MO, passed away peacefully at his residence on February 26, 2025.
Ralph was born on January 1, 1948, in Ellis, KS to William and Rose (Flax) Ghumm. He was raised in Wakeeney County and completed his education through the 12th grade. Ralph dedicated 23 years of service to the United States Army, achieving the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8). He was a decorated veteran, earning the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Silver Star, Army Commendation Medal, and several other prestigious honors for his dedication.
On December 30, 1967, Ralph married the love of his life, Belinda Sue Trout, at St. Michael's Church in Girard.
He was a member of Our Lady Lourdes Catholic church in Pittsburg.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Belinda Ghumm of the home; his 4 children, Toni Dennis of Choctaw, OK, Jason (Kim) Ghumm of Stafford, KS, Joshua Ghumm of Oronogo, MO, and Tarryn Gardner (Adam) of Spring Hill, KS; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jody Ghumm; his siblings, Verlin, Bernice and LuVerne Ghumm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Monday, March 3, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg. Burial will follow at the Fort Scott National Cemetery with full military honors.
A parish rosary will be recited at 2 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS. Family will receive friends following the rosary until 4:30 pm at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to be sent to Our Lady of Lourdes memorial fund. These may be mailed or dropped off to the funeral home. 230 East McKay Frontenac, KS 66763
