Ralph Higgins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carl W. Hall Funeral Services on Jan. 22, 2026.
Ralph Allen Higgins, born February 23, 1958, in Warren, Ohio, passed away on January 20, 2026, following complications from an aortic aneurysm after multiple surgeries. He was 67 years old. A lifelong resident of Greene, Ohio, Ralph was a renowned mechanic and affectionately known as the "Mayor of Greene," a title that reflected his deep roots and lasting impact on the community.

Above all else, Ralph was a devoted father and grandfather who cherished his family. He is survived by his daughters, Kaitlyn Camp and Abbagail Higgins; his son-in-law, Tom Camp; and his soon-to-be son-in-law, Alex Clark. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Ella and Ava, who will especially miss his quick wit, funny sayings, and cherished Sunday morning baking traditions. He is also survived by his sisters, Liz West, Louise (Milo) Gibbs, and Rosemary (Todd) Rice, along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends who were touched by his generosity and kindness.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine and Cecil Higgins, as well as his beloved "round table" garage friends-his daily companions who gathered around the table in his garage, sharing stories, laughter, and friendship.

Ralph attended Maplewood School and later found his calling as a mechanic, a career that shaped both his work and his passions. At just 23 years old, he became the proud owner of Ralph's Garage, where his dedication and skill were well known. He loved spending time at Raceway Seven and was deeply involved in the car community, always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with anyone who would listen. Ralph spent many years volunteering with Greene Fire Department, sometimes being the only one to respond to a call.

But nothing meant more to him than his daughters. Some of their most cherished memories were made side by side, often during trips to car museums, where his love for cars and his love for his girls came together. Above all, he was a devoted father whose presence, humor, and generosity shaped the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his big heart, strong work ethic, incredible knowledge he had, and the laughter he brought into every room.

The family has entrusted Carl W. Hall Funeral Home in Warren, Ohio, with Ralph's arrangements. His life and legacy will be celebrated by all those who knew him as a giving, honorable man who never met a stranger. Ralph's impact on his community and loved ones will be felt for many years to come.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, January 27th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Greene Nazarene Church to remember Ralph, share stories, and enjoy a meal together.
