Ralph D. Hines

Ralph D. Hines, 81, of New Albany passed away at his residence Sunday afternoon. Ralph was born in Allensville, Kentucky to the late Gossett E. and Virginia (Leighton) Hines. After serving in the US Army, he joined the New Albany Police Department on January 1st, 1969, until his first retirement on July 12th, 2001. On May 17th, 2004, he rejoined the department and stayed on till the day of his passing. He also worked part time as a security officer at Floyd Memorial Hospital and would work as a landscaper during the summertime. Ralph was a member of several local organizations including, the Masonic Lodge #39, the 40 & 8 Voiture #1250 and the FOP #99 Lee Deich Memorial Lodge. One of his proudest accomplishments was organizing the Cops for Kids Car Show which raised thousands of dollars through the FOP to benefit local children in need. Ralph and his wife Linda were members of the Hoosier Knobs Car Club and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda L. (Wolfe) Hines; his sister Carolyn Powell; nieces Linda Jones, Nancy Lynn Powell, Debbie Hurley and Donna Goldsmith; his nephew Tommy Powell; his good and loyal friends Dickie Posley and Todd Bailey.
Visitation will be from 2 PM – 6 PM Wednesday, February 14th, 2024, at the Market Steet Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes in New Albany.
A service to celebrate his life and service to the community will be held in the Market Street Chapel at
10 AM Thursday with visitation beginning at 9 AM. Burial with military honors will follow his service at Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
