Ralph E. Layer, born on October 6, 1949, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy cherished by his family and friends. He was known for his warm spirit and engaging personality having a quick wit and a great sense of humor. One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying a 7&7 while cheering for the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. Ralph’s passions also included fishing, golf, and bowling, hobbies that brought him joy and connection with those around him. Most importantly, he treasured spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, creating memories that will forever be a part of their lives.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, of 56 years Linda Layer (nee Kellerman). He was the proud father to Eddie (Tracey) Layer, Angie (Mike) Osterbrock, and Lorrie (Brian) Nolan. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Morgan, Dylan, Hailie, Reid, and Liam, and his deceased grandchildren Matthew & Andrew who will carry forward the values and love he instilled in them. Additionally, Ralph is survived by his sister, Mary (Norman) Parr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alma Layer. Ralph also has siblings who have passed away, Phyllis Maymir and Deet (Clare) Layer, who are fondly remembered by their family.
The family invites all who knew Ralph to gather in remembrance. A visitation will take place on Monday, September 29, 2025, at St. Margaret Mary Church 1830 W. Galbraith Rd. from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Mass at 12:00 PM. Memorials may be made to Freestore Foodbank (freestorefoodbank.org)
Ralph E. Layer lived a life full of love, laughter, and community. His presence will be dearly missed, yet his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched.
