Ralph M. Merrill

Ralph Milton Merrill, 89, of Grand Ledge, MI passed away on June 6, 2022. He was born in Ionia, MI on April 8, 1933, son of Royce and Mildred (Friend) Merrill. Ralph was a graduate of Portland High School class of 1951, received his Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, served in the Korean War for the United States Army, and worked for the State of Michigan MDOT as the Road Commissioner until he retired in 1988. He owned his own tree nursery, and made maple syrup. Ralph was an avid euchre player who played very fast; he owned a 1933 Studebaker Presidents Edition and a 1959 Pontiac Bonneville; he enjoyed horses, fishing, and hunting.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Marlene (Patrick); daughter Melinda (David) White; granddaughter Kaitlyn White; siblings: Hal (Lenore) Merrill, Gary Merrill, Sandra Jones, and Steve Merrill; brother-in-law Lyle Patrick; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Mark Merrill, and brother, Dean Merrill.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, Grand Ledge. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Ralph Merrill to the Alzheimer's Association, 25200 Telegraph Rd #100, Southfield, MI 48033.
