Ralph Louis Mondano

The family of Ralph L. Mondano of Lexington, MA, announce his passing on September 21, 2025, at the age of ninety-nine. His wife, Ruth, predeceased him after 74 years of marriage as did his son, Mark Mondano, MD. Ralph, a Navy Veteran and a Yale graduate, had an amazing life. He was lead researcher and developer of specialized materials in the fields of radar, microwave devices and aircraft, and as plant manager at Raytheon, he was responsible for work on the Sparrow and Hawk Missiles. He founded his own company, Custom Material, Inc., which was purchased by 3M Co. and where he remained as Plant Manager. 3M sponsored him at the Univ. of Mass. Lowell where he was 3M Executive in Residence, founding the Plastics Engineering Program. Most of all, he loved his family, friends, colleagues, doctors, students and caregivers. He was a mentor to many. His family, Mona Mondano, Margo O'Malley, Jim O'Malley, Ethan O'Malley, Evan O'Malley and Amanda Meade O'Malley will miss him terribly.
