OAKLEY – Ralph Henry Moore, age 69, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 4, 2025.
Ralph was born on May 5, 1956, in Buncombe County. He lived in the Oakley area most of his life. Ralph lived at the Baptist Children’s Homes for 10 years at the Alverta Bolick home. For the past 8 years he was an AFL resident at Davidson Family Services. He was an artist who loved drawing trees and enjoyed attending the LINCS day program. Ralph was a member of Ecclesia Baptist Church and worked towards his GED at AB Tech. He participated in the Special Olympics for many years, and was a member of the Special Blessings class at Woodland Hills Baptist, now GracePoint Church.
He was the son of the late Thomas Dewey and Willie Jump Moore and was also preceded in death by his aunt, Alice Nelson.
Surviving is his cousin, Beth Nelson; best friend, Rob Powell; caregivers, Pat and Ronnie Bradley, Stefanie Effler, and Kara Peterson.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, October 13, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 308 Gashes Creek Road, Asheville. The family will receive friends from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
