Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shadel's Colonial Chapel - Lebanon on Nov. 6, 2025.
Ralph Edward "Eddie" Posten Sr., son of Ralph and Velma (Clark) Posten, was born June 20, 1940, in Redwood, California. He departed this life November 6, 2025, at his home in
Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years.
Growing up Eddie was proud of his high school boxing career and cherished being a part of the Golden Gloves. When he wasn't boxing he worked construction with his father. They enjoyed hunting and fishing. Whether they were chasing coons with the hounds, waiting in the stands for that prized buck or camping and setting trot lines on the Gasconade, he had many fond memories of the times they shared together. At the time, he didn't realize they were creating memories, he just knew they were having fun.
On December 26, 1988, Eddie was united in marriage to Melinda Conway. Together they shared thirty-six years of love and laughter side by side. To this union was born two children Cody and Chet Posten. Joining Eddies four children from a previous marriage, Connie, Janicee, Ralph Jr. and Jamie Posten, they became a family of eight.
Eddie was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed visiting and meeting new people, according to his family, he never met a stranger, just friends he hadn't met yet.
Eddie loved so many things about this life, making homemade ice cream was certainly something his family looked forward to each year, as the weather turned warm. Although he gave them a hard time as often as possible, his family was his greatest accomplishment. Watching them succeed in life gave him the deepest joy.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Melinda (Conway) Posten; five children, Connie Posten, Janicee Rivera (David), Ralph Edward Posten Jr., Jamie Posten (Pam), and Chet Posten (Sara); nine grandchildren, Charles Mac (Eunice), Jeremy, Jonathan, Shelby, Jessica, J.T., Jenny, Callan and Bennett; two great-grandchildren, Isla and Celina; one brother, Don Posten (Timothy McFall); one sister, Cora Hake (Todd); other relatives and many dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Cody Posten; two brothers, Carl and David Posten; one sister-in-law, Joanie Posten.
Eddie was so important to so many of us for so many reasons. He only wanted the best for those he loved. He had a life motto that he shared with sincerity, "Be happy and live a long life." The rest will all fall into place. He will be missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
Memorials in honor of Eddie have been suggested to Hazelgreen Cemetery.
