Ralph Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jansen Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Mar. 12, 2026.
Ralph Lynn Smith, affectionately known as "Pook" by his friends and family, on March 11, 2026, in Flint, Michigan. Born on December 13, 1961, in Pontiac, Michigan, Pooks warm spirit and infectious laughter brought joy to all who knew him. His life was a testament to the love and passion he carried for his interests and the people around him.

Pook's journey began as the cherished son of Joan Smith and the late Robert Smith Sr. He grew up alongside his brother, Robert Smith Jr., and sister, Jody (Shane) Conn, in a home filled with laughter and love. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took great pride in his roots. Pook was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Carla J Estel, whom he married on August 16, 2001, in Waterford, Michigan. Their union was a beautiful example of partnership and mutual adoration.

Pook's passions were varied, but music held a special place in his heart. A talented drummer, he found solace and joy in the rhythm and beats of the music he loved. His passion extended to hot rod cars, with his 1982 Camaro being the jewel of his collection. Pooks attention to detail were also evident in his hobby of building model cars, a pastime that allowed him to express his creativity and patience.

Those who knew Pook will remember him as a thoughtful, funny, and passionate individual. His ability to see humor in life's challenges was a gift that he shared freely, bringing lightness to the hearts of those around him. His thoughtfulness was evident in the care he showed to his family and friends, always putting their needs before his own.

Pook's legacy is carried on by his loving wife, Carla; his mother, Joan Smith; his brother, Robert Smith Jr.; his sister, Jody (Shane) Conn; and the many friends and family members whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Smith Sr., and his grandmother, LeBurney Wood.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life in honor of Pook will be announced at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville. Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
