Ralph Thompson
June 10, 1949 – January 19, 2026
Ralph Thompson was born on June 10, 1949, in Chattsworth, St. James, Jamaica, to Clifford Stanley Thompson and Francis Elizabeth Lee Thompson. Ralph was the youngest of thirteen siblings. His upbringing in a large family taught him a deep appreciation for family.
He was educated at Shaw Castle All Age School and then at St. Elizabeth Technical High School in Jamaica before entering the workforce. Throughout his life, Ralph wore many hats. He worked as a banker, owned both a construction business and a bar, and was, at heart, an agriculturalist and farmer. He raised many types of livestock and also found fulfillment in working the land. More than any title, he loved growing things-plants, animals, and working the land. It brought him peace and purpose.
Ralph was well known and deeply respected in his Brighton Lakes neighborhood, where he was always willing to lend a hand-whether helping a neighbor maintain their home, tending a yard, or offering practical advice born from experience. His generosity and comedic approach left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Ralph shared 52 devoted years of marriage with his one and only, Joyce Thompson, in 1974. Together they built a life grounded in love, hard work, and service to others. Ralph will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, dependable neighbor, and a man who found joy in building, laboring, and helping others. His legacy lives on in his family, his community, and all the lives he touched.
Though humble in beginnings, Ralph stood strong in character, love, and service. His Jamaican roots shaped his work ethic, his generosity, and his unwavering commitment to family and community.
Ralph went home to be with his heavenly Father on January 19, 2026, at age 76. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce; his children Kemel, Melonie, and Kory; his two cherished grandchildren, Danilo and Imani; his siblings Beres, Dorothy, Thelma, and Loderick; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews whom he loved and cherished.
