Ralph B. Watson, 93, of Chester, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
He was born in Chester on April 27, 1931, the son of the late Walter and Mahala Lamp Watson.
Ralph was a proud veteran of the United States Army and committed many years to his work as a tanker man at Quaker State Oil. He was good with his hands as a carpenter and mechanic, and his favorite pastime was restoring antique cars.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Barbara A. Freeman Watson, whom he married on May 23, 1970. He is also survived by his son, Robert Watson (Rhonda) of Newell, WV.; his daughter, Cindy Frye of Newell, WV.; stepsons Alan Smith (Kris) of Negley, OH., Steven Smith (Krissie) of Galloway, OH, and Timothy Smith of Chester, WV; stepdaughter Diana Johnston of New Cumberland, WV.; sister Velma Hissom of Canton, OH; grandchildren, Jimmy Johnston (Laura), Sarah McMillin, Timothy Smith Jr., Alexis Hawken, Billy Watson, Megan Eckleberry, Morgan Watson, and Hannah Smith, and nine great-grandchildren, Layne, Gracyn, and Wren Eckleberry, Ella, and Marcus Watson, Maddox, and Enid Hawken, Deegan McNeely, and Cameron Johnston.
Ralph was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Raymond Watson, and his grandson, Dalton Frye.
Inurnment will occur at Locust Hill Cemetery. The Arner Funeral Chapel is entrusted with his arrangements.
