Ralph Steven Yates, "Steve," 67 of Erwin, TN passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 10, 2025. Steve spent his life working as a welder and a pipe fitter, and in his later years, until he became disabled, spent his time as a logger with his brother-in-law. Steve was blessed with a large and loving family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Bentley and Ava. Steve loved hunting and fishing and spending time at The Green Knob, and he was so grateful to keep that property in the family.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Yates, grandfather, Wayts Musick (Da-Da), grandmother, Bertha Musick and brother, Scottie Yates.
Steve leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 15 years and the love of his life, Diana Yates, daughters Sarah Whicker and Morgan Casey (Josh), grandchildren Bentley and Ava Casey, Mother Jeanette Yates, sister, Donna Gardner and two brothers Chad and Tim Yates. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service for Steve will be held at Sweetwater Baptist Church in Flag Pond at a later time.
The family would like to thank two very special ladies from Franklin Woods ER and JCMC for all of their hard work, love and support during Steve's illness.
