Our beloved father, Ramiro Alfonzo Cardenas Loza, age 70, is finally resting.
After many years of battling major health issues, he is now at peace and in the loving arms of his father Alfonzo, his sister Loty, and reunited with all of his cherished fur babies.
Our father, a fierce protector, always stood by our side. He came to the states hoping for a better future for our family and he accomplished that and more.
He had a madding love for soccer. He played for many years and could watch hours of it on TV. The most gifted man with his hands, there wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He used to play the guitar and we would often hear him sing Bolivian folklore songs, putting all his heart into each word. He missed his country very much. But he also loved his life in New York.
While we lost our amazing father, many have lost a dear friend and loved one in him. He was charismatic, and made friends with anyone he came across. He was a rock to many, and a master of sarcastic humor and witty timing. Once you were marked as important to him, he'd be by your side when you needed him.
There was much more to him than just dad, though to us that was his greatest roll - he was also an amazing son, brother, friend, a coworker and colleague, stand-in paternal figure to those in need and a wonderful husband who was deeply, deeply in love with our beautiful mother. They faced many challenges together, some painful and some rewarding. Their resilience to love each other through it all is something we hope to emulate.
We invite you all to share pictures or memories. It was his wish that we laugh and reminisce, and smile together during this time.
