Ramon DiSanto Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. - Rochester on Jan. 11, 2026.
Ramon Richard "Ray" DiSanto, 96, a lifelong resident of Western New York, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026. Born on July 22, 1929, in Batavia, New York, Ray lived a full 96 years, widely known and deeply respected throughout the Rochester and Batavia communities, particularly in the world of bowling, where his influence spanned generations.

Ray was predeceased by his first wife, Carmina. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean; his sons, Ray DiSanto Jr. (Anna) and Mark DiSanto (Renee); his daughter, Marie Shero (Joseph); his granddaughter, Gianna DiSanto; and his stepsons, Christopher Senftleben (Nicole) and Kurt Senftleben. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and stepfather, whose love for family was central to his life.

Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army, entering active duty on January 3, 1951, and serving honorably at Fort Dix, New Jersey until December 11, 1952, during the Korean War era.

Ray's true legacy, however, shines brightest in the bowling community, where he was a pillar for over six decades. As the longtime proprietor of Ray's Pro Shop and later Bowlers World in the Rochester area, he wasn't just a business owner-he was a master craftsman, instructor, and mentor. His expertise in ball drilling, lane knowledge, and technique helped countless bowlers improve their games, from amateurs in local leagues to competitive players. His teaching style, often described as genius-level and tailored to each individual's anatomy and tempo, made him a trusted figure who genuinely cared about others' success.

His accolades speak volumes: an early member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), and inductions into prestigious halls of fame, including the Batavia Sports Hall of Fame, Rochester NY USBC Hall of Fame (1978), Genesee Region USBC (1976), and New York State USBC (1995). These honors recognize not only his competitive achievements but also his lifelong passion and generosity in sharing knowledge.

Ray's influence endures in the bowling centers of Batavia, Rochester, and beyond, in every bowler he coached, and in the respect he earned from generations who knew him. His nearly century-long life was one of service and quiet excellence. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy rolls on.
