Bakersfield – Beloved husband and father, Ramon Garza Jr., passed away on August 5, 2024 in Bakersfield, California. He was born in Brownsville, Texas in 1951.
He leaves behind his wife of fifty-two years, Rosa Zuniga Garza; three children, Ramon Garza III "Mon", his wife, Patricia "Patsy", and two grandchildren, Andy and Victoria "Kiki" (named for her grandmother, Victoria); daughter, Jessica; and son, Ramon Macias Garza, his wife, Michelle, and three grandchildren, Tyler, Kimmi, and Allison; three siblings, Maggie Garza and her husband, Ralph; Alex and his wife, Grace, and their two children, Alex Jr. and Erica, and brother, Smiley. We cannot forget his needy cat, Jasper.
After attending Bakersfield College, Ramon attained his B.A. Degree at San Jose University. He worked in various jobs mostly as a manager and announcer on Spanish radio, KWAC; in management at Montgomery Ward, Circuit City, Target, and lastly at Goodwill. In his last years of retirement, he enjoyed traveling and watching his favorite TV programs with his wife and family members.

In the summer of 1981, fresh out of high school, I worked in maintenance at Montgomery Ward on F Street in Bakersfield. At 17, one of my tasks was painting the manager's offices. During the job, we accidentally spilled an entire bucket of paint on the carpet in Mr. Garza's office. To my surprise, he took it in stride. Fellow employees told me if you were going to make a mistake like that, Mr. Garza was the best person to do it to-always understanding and good-natured. I'll always remember him as a kind and patient man
