Ramona Delilah (Apple)

Ramona 'Tiny Babe' Apple-Ashmore was born at home at No Flesh community, near Kyle to Joseph Apple Jr. and Eloise (Ruff) Garnette on October 30, 1938. Ramona made her journey to her forever home of heaven at her home in Magna, UT with her family beside her.

She is survived by her daughters, Eloise (Randy) Richmond of Magna, UT and Arna Hanks of South Jordan, UT; her son, Renzel (Kim) Ashmore of Salt Lake City, UT; her sisters, Jacquelin Hernandez, Phyllis E. Little Moon, Elvira J. Mosquerda, and Phyllis White Bear Claws of Rapid City, Devonna (John) Bush, Amanda (Archie) Takes War Bonnett-Beauvais, and Jacqueline (Robert) Reddy all of Martin, SD; 22 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Jamie Ashmore and Merle Ashmore; daughter, Frances Ashmore; her parents, Joseph Apple Sr. and step-mother Rebecca Apple; mother, Eloise Ruff-Garnette and stepfather Charles Garnette; her brothers, Renzel Lyle Palmier, Donald A. Garnette, Marvin W. Garnette, Harlen P. Garnette, Francis D. Garnette, Carl Garnette, Ronald V. Cottier, William L. Apple, Joseph W. Apple and Albert Louis Apple; her sisters, Myrnette F. Janis, Charlotte Conroy, Alice Camargo, Arthureen Tamayo, Alvina Katherine Dubray, and Charlene Mary Bush-White Horse.

Ramona was raised by her grandparents, Art and Hilda Ruff. Ramona attended Holy Rosary Mission School in Pine Ridge, SD where she graduated and went on to a trade school in Dallas, TX where she met her children's father. From this union she had six children, whom she loved and cherished. In later years, she moved with her children to Utah. Her career life was in cooking, and she was employed as a cook in places in Salt Lake City and the Kyle area.

Her Catholic faith sustained her to live a long and fulfilling life. She was loving and selfless and enjoyed being around family. She loved teaching others her cooking skills and sharing her recipes.

Pallbearers will be Ethan LaDeaux, Willie Garnette, Eston Conroy, Joeseph Elk, George Conroy, Trevor Loafrer, Edward Janis, and Renzel Watkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends & relatives.

Wake Services: One night wake service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD with evening services and Rosary held at 7:00 PM

Mass of Christian Burial: 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Hall in Kyle, SD

Officiating: Father Ron Seminara, S.J.

Traditional Lakota Services: Rodney Bad Hand

Burial Services: Cremation to follow services with burial at a later date in Utah
