Ramona H. Johnson

Ramona H. Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Columbia, Maryland, at the age of 65. Born on January 9, 1960, in Albany, New York, Ramona lived a life marked by compassion, resilience, and a deep love for family and community.
Ramona was the cherished daughter of Henry L. Hector Sr. and Frances M. Hector, and the treasured granddaughter of Maggie & Isaiah Graham and Porter & Cleo Hector. Ramona's upbringing was rooted in strong family values and a commitment to education and service.
Ramona graduated from Weequahic High School and later attended Star Academy, where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to a fulfilling career as a teacher's assistant with The Leaguers Head Start Program. She also worked at Macy's, where her warmth and dedication touched many.
Ramona was the proud mother of Christy White-Garrett and April Johnson, and a loving grandmother to Kamryn Graham. Her legacy lives on through them and the many lives she influenced with her gentle spirit and unwavering support.
Ramona is survived by her siblings: Henry "Pat" Hector Jr., Kim Stewart, Marlene Minter, Alonzo Jones, Shawn Hector, and Lillian Harvey. She was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Thomas. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will forever remember her kindness and laughter.
A woman of deep faith, Ramona worshipped with Agape Family Worship Center, where she found spiritual nourishment and community. She joyfully volunteered with the church's dance ministry, expressing her devotion through praise.
Throughout her life, Ramona found joy in simple pleasures-crocheting beautiful creations and enjoying the thrill of a casino visit. She regularly set up a vibrant booth at the flea market, where she sold a variety of clothing items, crochet pieces, and trinkets. Her vibrant personality and generous heart made her a beacon of light to all who knew her.
Ramona was united in marriage to Michael White and later to late Gary Johnson, both of whom shared in her journey through life's joys and challenges.
Ramona's memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, strength, and dedication will continue to inspire generations to come.
