Obituary of Ramona Alice Marklein
Ramona Alice Marklein, age 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2023, in Yorkville, IL, with her family by her side. She was born in Morris, IL, to the late Grover and Lillie Simpson. She grew up in Mazon and was a graduate of Mazon Township High School class of 1946. On September 15, 1951, she married Robert Marklein, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage before his passing in 2022.
Ramona was a loving wife and mother, who devoted her life to their care and upbringing. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, but especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bird watching, gardening, and watching Nascar were some of her favorite hobbies. She was known to be a tremendous cook and baker, especially for her pies and cookies. In retirement, Bob and Mona liked to travel to visit family and take excursions to see the local sights.
Ramona is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Rick) Stallman and Diane Love; her grandchildren, Kelly (George) Perez, Ryan (Sarah) Stallman, Stacey (Wesley) Vander Meer, Rachael Peirce, Mary Ellen Peirce, Kyle (Raven) Love, and Taylor (Shepherd) Klinke; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her daughter, Linda Peirce. While her loss will be difficult for her family, they are comforted to know that she is once again together with her husband and daughter.
Visitation for Ramona Marklein will be Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. U.S. Route 6, Morris, from 1:00 p.m. and concluding with services at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Brookside Cemetery in Mazon. Pastor Del Keilman will officiate.
In lieu of flowers donations to or in her name would be appreciated.
