Ramona Alesia McClain, 64, passed away at her residence on March 6, 2026. Her life was a testament to unwavering love, determination, and a spirit that touched all those around her.
She was born on February 3, 1962, in Statesboro, Georgia to James Roy McClain and Virginia Cowart Proctor and lived here most of her life. A proud graduate of Glennville High School, class of 1980, she radiated joy and fond memories from her school days. In 1975, she became Miss Glennville Middle School, a title that she was most proud of and characteristics that stayed with her throughout her life. Alesia cherished her classmates and fostered friendships that endured over the years.
As a caregiver, Alesia was second to none, dedicating her heart and skill to ensuring that others were well cared for. She was known famously for never wanting anyone to go without, especially when it came to the necessity of food. This commitment stemmed from her own experiences as a single mother. She worked tirelessly, often holding down two jobs, to ensure her son never went without even the simplest of joys. Alesia provided not just for her son but also exhibited a remarkable strength and resilience that inspired everyone who knew her.
Her personality could light up any room. With a big heart and a straightforward nature, Alesia was easy to love. She had a refreshing honesty about her; if she liked you, you knew it without a doubt, and conversely, if she didn't, she made that clear too. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was spending time with family, watching "Gunsmoke" with her beloved brother, Bubba, or enjoying the thrill of motorcycles.
The role of a Mimi brought Alesia immense pride and happiness that she held above all others. Her granddaughter, Shelby, was not only her greatest joy but her world. Being a Mimi was an accomplishment she always dreamed of, and her love for Shelby radiated through every moment of her life.
Alesia is preceded in death by her father, mother, bonus father, Jerry Proctor and brother, Jerry "Bubba" Proctor, Jr.
She is survived by her loving son, Dylan Colbaugh (Melissa), her world and granddaughter, Shelby Colbaugh, siblings whom she held dear, Alinda Dover (Randy), Jake McClain (Laura), Mike McClain, Charlotte McClain, Tracy Proctor, numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
