Ramona M. Schultz

Ramona M. Schultz passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 11:24 a.m., on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Settlers Place in La Porte, Indiana.

She was born May 1, 1930 in Furnessville, Indiana to William and Thelma Matson Blamey. As a child she took dance lessons, tap and ballet, at the School of Fine Arts in Michigan City. She also played the piano accordion and was a member of the Olsen City Bank. Ramona graduated from Elston High School, Class of 1948.

Ramona had worked at M.C. Savings and Loan in Michigan City before coming an office secretary at Seneca Petroleum Company, where she worked for 33 years until retirement. Ramona was a faithful Presbyterian for many years and sang in church choir, including performance of the Messiah and The Seven Last Words of Christ. She loved spending time with her family, and her many close friends she kept dear to her heart.

She married Louis C. Schultz, on January 19, 1952 in Michigan City, Indiana at the First United Methodist Church. They had two children, Stephen W. Schultz of Michigan City, IN, and Laura (Mark) Menke of La Porte, IN, who survive. Also surviving are her four grandchildren: Melissa (Jay) Phalora of Chesterton, IN, Stephen P. Schultz of LaPorte, IN, Lorianne Schultz of Porter, IN, and Kristen (Dylan) Barden of La Porte, IN; and five great-grandchildren: Emma, Greyson, Watson, Layton and Jace. Her husband, parents, sister E. Ann White, and brothers Wallace Blamey and William Jr. Blamey preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home, 247 West Johnson Road, La Porte, IN 46350 (219)-362-3100. Visitation will start at 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
