Ranae Hyden Wood Nessen, age 91, passed away October 25, 2024, at her home in Howell, UT.

She was born June 5, 1933, in Howell to Orson and Mary Andersen Hyden. She married Joseph Carman Wood on March 14, 1952, in the Logan Utah temple. After 49 years together, Carman passed away in August 2001. Ranae then married LaMont Nessen. He passed away March 2024.

Throughout her life, Ranae lived in Howell, UT; Riverdale, UT; Ogden, UT; Tempe, AZ; Redding, CA; and retiring in Howell.

She attended Bear River High School. While her children were young, she worked as a school lunch lady. While living in Tempe, she worked at Salt River Project. 

She enjoyed quilting, collecting coins and pulling weeds.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her sons Jerry (Kerri), Dale (Brenda) and her daughter Sharon Lynn (Mike); 11 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Helen Noble (Joe) and two brothers-in-law Lyle Nessen (Lois) and Ron Rushton (Kay).

She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters Ella Lloyd, Lois Nessen, Joyce Benson, Larene Mathis, and Kay Rushton; two children Karl Wood and Jean Peterson and one grandson Jason Wood.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11 A.M at the Howell Church (16035 N 17400 W- Howell, UT). Viewings will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 5-7 P.M. at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E- Tremonton) and prior to the service at the church from 9-10:30 A.M. Interment will be held in the Howell Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed below.
