Randal (Cooter) J. Bassett, 61, of Stafford Springs, CT passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Palmer, MA, son of Lucy (LaPierre) Poland and the late Gerald A. Bassett, Sr. Randy delivered gas for B.A. Muzio for many years. He was also a member of the Stafford Fish & Game Club, and the Sons of the American Legion. Randy enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, riding quads, and collecting scrap. If you were lucky enough to know him, there's a good chance you got to try some of his homemade goods; from various wines, maple syrup goodies, his farm raised rabbits, or custom wooden signs. You could always find him working around his property, or having a good time with his friends and family. Randy is survived by his son, Joshua Bassett; his two dogs, Liza and Lacey; mother, Lucy Poland and her husband Joe; brothers, Jerry Bassett and his wife Julie, and Dennis Bassett and his wife Debbie; nieces, Tiffany Bassett and her partner Donald Evans, and Samantha Bassett; and nephew, Dennis Bassett, Jr. and his wife Emma. He was predeceased by his niece, Brittany Bassett. Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Safe Net Ministries, P.O. Box 93, Stafford Springs, CT 06076.
