Shannon Marie Bassett, 52, of Vinita, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025.
She was born on July 18, 1973, in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Larry Seaton and Mary Jo Lawrence-Seaton. Shannon was born and raised in Vinita, where she built a life centered around family, hard work, and love.
Growing up, Shannon was actively involved in 4-H, FFA, basketball, and local rodeo organizations. Her competitive spirit, leadership, and love for agriculture and rodeo began at an early age and continued throughout her life. Those experiences shaped her strong work ethic and her dedication to helping others succeed.
She was the proud owner of RGS, a company that became her second home. Shannon poured her heart into her work and cared deeply for every employee, treating each one as family. She encouraged others to chase their dreams and was always there to lend a helping hand.
When she wasn't working, Shannon could be found cheering on her kids and grandsons at rodeos, volunteering for the Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo, or serving with the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also loved spending time with her best friend, Jalene Wells, and making memories with her close-knit group of friends, "The Hustlers" - Kathy, Kim, and Amanda - sharing countless laughs and adventures together.
Shannon is survived by her mother, Mary Jo Victory and husband Bill of Chelsea; brothers Shane Seaton and wife Christi of Vinita, and Shad Seaton of Vinita; her children, Dustin Bassett and Amber of Vinita; Maddie Bergosh and husband Zach of Vinita; and Mollie Bassett and Tristan Hoffman of Vinita; grandsons Swayde and Blair Bassett; nieces Taylor Nolte and Racie Seaton; nephews Will Seaton, Caleb Way, and Riley Seaton; great-nephews Gus and Pecos Nolte; along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Seaton, and grandparents Bill and Betty Lawrence, and Lawrence and Mary Lou Seaton.
Shannon loved big, worked hard, and lived with an energy that lifted everyone around her. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Highsmith Funeral Home in Vinita.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 22nd, at 1:00 p.m. at Cowboy Junction Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, or to Cowboy Junction Church in Shannon's memory.
Arrangements are under the care of Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral & Cremation Services. "Vinita's only family owned and operated funeral home."
