Randall Bartlett Obituary
Northampton, MA - Dr. Randall (Randy) Kenyon Bartlett Sr. passed away at age 80, on Wednesday October 8, 2025 at his home in Northampton, Massachusetts following a prolonged illness. He was born on January 23, 1945 to the late Jean and Rev. Gene Bartlett and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Catherine, and his three children, Randall Jr., Ellika, and David (Larissa), along with his grandchildren, Elias, August, Ayvind, Pilar, Emi, Jack and Sebastian. He was a loving brother to Marion, Margaret, Steve and his late brother David, and a devoted uncle to Will, Chris, Brian, Scott, Ben and Jonah.
Randy spent his life inspiring and offering compassionate guidance to others, whether it was in the halls of Stanford University, where he met his beloved wife Catherine, or in the classrooms at Smith College where he was a Professor of Economics for more than 40 years. Randy was a passionate outdoorsman as well as a talented musician with his baritone filling the rooms of his home or the halls of Smith College. More than anything, Randy was devoted to his family, always striving to support them and offer a laugh or advice when either or both were needed. Randy brought charm, wit, and a smile to everyone he encountered and will be deeply missed by all those privileged to have crossed paths with him.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Professor Bartlett was great as both an advisor and professor during my time at Smith. His urban economics class was among the best, if not the best, class I took during those years.
