Randall Wayne Clanton Sr.

Randall "Randy" Wayne Clanton Sr., of Hainesville, Texas, passed away at his home on May 4, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born on September 13, 1957, in Quitman, Texas, to the late Billie Frank Clanton and Pauline Wallace Robinson.

Randy spent many years working in the oil field and lived in Quitman most of his life. He was a longtime member of Cartwright Baptist Church. On September 18, 1974, he married the love of his life, Gayla, in Quitman, and together they recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.

Randy was a proud fan of NASCAR—#24 was his favorite—and had a deep love for motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, who lovingly called him Pops, Pawpaw, or Pepaw.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Billie Frank Clanton; brother, Edward Glenn Clanton; two sisters, Billie Faye Wood and Glenda Smith; and his son, Bradley Dale Clanton.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gayla Clanton of Hainesville; mother, Pauline Robinson of Quitman; three children, Michael Worsham Clanton Sr. and wife Janice of Texas City, Randy Wayne Clanton Jr. of Hainesville, and Nicole Clanton Johnson and husband Jared of Bedford; two brothers, Frankie Lynn Clanton Sr. and wife Mary of Quitman, and Robert “Robby” Clanton of Quitman; 12 grandchildren, Corey Clanton of Hainesville, Marissa Worsham Clanton of Texas City, Mason Clanton of Mineola, Nathan Clanton and wife Skylar of Mineola, Emily Muro and husband Gustavo of Winnsboro, Michael Worsham Clanton Jr. of Santa Fe, TX, Kaiden Clanton of Mineola, Carter Thurman of Bedford, Christian Thurman of Bedford, Brittany Posey of Mineola, Whitney Wetzel and husband Marcus of Mineola, and D’Ann Shipp of Mineola; 15 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.

Funeral service for Randy Clanton will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations with Brother Fred Morrow officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at Concord Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers are Michael Worsham Clanton Sr., Randy Clanton Jr., Michael Worsham Clanton Jr., Nathan Clanton, Frankie Lynn Clanton Sr., and Jared Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers are Corey Clanton, Mason Clanton, Kaiden Clanton, Carter Thurman, Christian Thurman, and Robert “Robby” Clanton.
