Randall Jules “Randy” Doucet, a devoted hunter, fisherman, and family man, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, surrounded by loved ones in Lawtell, Louisiana at the age of 66. Born on May 14, 1958, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Leola Derganger Doucet and Terry John Doucet, Sr.

Randy was raised in the warmth of a close-knit family on the farm, with his grandparents, Nita and Linton Doucet, living next door. His upbringing instilled in him a love for nature and a strong connection to family. Randy shared an unbreakable bond with his brothers, built from countless hunting and fishing adventures and always being there for each other. Randy graduated from the University of Southern Louisiana (USL)with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He later returned to school to obtain his master’s degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Southern University. Randy's love for the outdoors, his dedication to his family, and his 35 ½ year career as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor show a life deeply committed to helping others and making a difference. His courage during his battle with cancer and his ability to maintain a positive outlook speak volumes about his strength of character. Randy's passion for cooking as a way to show love, his vibrant storytelling, and his active role in his family’s lives paint a vivid picture of a man who lived fully and selflessly. His knowledge of horses, food, hunting, fishing, guns, knives, and many other things made him a man who could wear many hats. Randy loved to impart his knowledge upon all those around him. His legacy will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of those he touched, especially his nieces and nephews who he was so proud of and loved spending time with.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Liz Morris Doucet, who showed him unconditional love. He was a proud father to his best friend and son, Lucas Doucet (Callie), and two daughters who lit up his world, Katelyn Badeaux (Bryce) and Sydni Deville (Joshua). His three grandchildren who brought him immense joy and pride- Weston Doucet, Cooper Deville, and Paisley Porter. He was a caring stepfather to Taylor Morris (Dillan) and James Morris (Dani). He is survived by two special brothers, Terry J. Doucet Jr. (Sheila) and Lenton B. Doucet II (Nikki), and one sister, Lynette Vidrine (Ward).

Visitation will be observed at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral home in Opelousas, LA on Tuesday December 17th from 2 to 8pm. A rosary will be prayed at 6pm. The visitation will continue on Wednesday at 8 am until Mass at 11am in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Grand Prairie, LA. Father Jude A. Halphen will officiate the services. Burial following will be in the church cemetery. Randy is being brought to his final resting place at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Grand Prairie.

His pallbearers are David Aymond, Andrew Doucet, Samuel Doucet, Shane Leger, Joshua Deville, and Bryce Badeaux. Honorary pallbearers are his two brothers, Terry J Doucet, Jr. and Lenton B Doucet II.
