Randall Doud Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 24, 2022.
Randall A. Doud passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family. Randy was born July 17, 1958, to the late Robert J. Sr. and Carol (Nies) Doud of Kalamazoo. A lifelong Kalamazoo area resident, he went to work immediately following high school graduation with Thompson Tree Service before he spent over 43 years as a line worker for Consumers Energy. He served on the Comstock Fire Department for 32 years and earned the rank of Captain while spending over 40 years total in the fire service following in the footsteps of his late father, Robert J. Sr. and late brother, Robert J. Jr. He took great pride in being a firefighter; his family and the community appreciated his dedication and selfless service attitude.
Throughout his life in his free time, he always had his dogs, he enjoyed camping, hunting/fishing trips with his dad and friends, any project imaginable, traveling with family and friends, and attending his children's, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews sporting events and school activities. He will be remembered for his hard work, bluntly honest demeanor, unconditional love, resonating voice and pride for all of his family and friends. In addition, he provided Safety Inspector and Safety Crew services for ARCA Racing, NASCAR, and numerous other racing organizations around the country including Atlanta Motor Speedway, Chicagoland Speedway, Michigan International Speedway, and many other national and local speedways. He truly loved his work and the variety of jobs he was skilled at. Providing service and a helping hand was vitally important to him and everyone knew if they called, he was going to find a way to help, even if you were going to get a few of his opinions along the way while he helped.
On February 14, 2005, he was united in marriage to Janet (Bestervelt) Doud who survives along with their daughter, Brianne Doud at home ; son, Brock Doud of Lexington, KY and daughter, Brandy (Ryan) Manning of Portage. Also surviving are his mother, Carol Doud of Ft. Myers, FL; siblings, Ron (Kathy) Doud, Rick (Loni) Doud all of Kalamazoo, Deborah (Paul) Corbeil of Madison, WI; father and mother-in-law, John and Jean Bestervelt of Galesburg; sisters-in-law, Carole Bestervelt of Kalamazoo, Darlene (BJ) West of Coldwater, and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and step sons, Brady and Blake Driver.
