Randall C. Libby
Scarborough
Randall "Randy" Clinton Libby, 70, of Scarborough, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family and loved ones after a long and courageous walk with Alzheimer's disease. His wife-his partner in life and, in recent years, his devoted caregiver-was by his side, lovingly supporting him through every last step of his journey here on earth.
Randy was born on July 22, 1955, the son of Richard Libby and Lorna (Hersey). One of six children, he grew up in a bustling, close-knit family alongside Ronny, Diane Smith (Dennis Regan), Ricky (Carolyn), Denise Kresse (Buddy Hudson), and Deborah Folan (Marty). He attended Scarborough schools and graduated from Scarborough High School in 1974. A talented multi-sport athlete, Randy continued playing soccer after high school and remained a passionate supporter of both local and professional sports throughout his life. He was also an avid NASCAR enthusiast and a dedicated fan of local racing.
Randy spent his early adult years working on the family farm and enjoying time at his camp on Swan Pond in Lyman, ME-a place filled with memories of laughter, friendship, and countless good times. Known for his willingness to help anyone who needed it, Randy had a quick wit and a warm sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.
A man of remarkable work ethic and generosity, Randy learned carpentry at a young age from his father and went on to build multiple homes across southern Maine. He took great pride in his craft and was always available to answer questions or offer guidance throughout the building process. He regarded it as a profound honor that families trusted him with one of the biggest investments of their lives.
Randy was predeceased by his parents; his sister Deborah Folan of Austin, TX; his father-in-law Arthur Leddy of Scarborough; and his sister-in-law Cynthia Leddy of Saco.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sherri of Scarborough; his daughter Natashia DeJesus (Chris) of Virginia Beach, VA; and his sons Randall (Maggie) of Grass Valley, CA, and Justin of Freeport, ME. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother-in-law Patricia Leddy of
Saco, ME; his sister-in-law Susan Wright (Gary); his sister-in-law Allyssa Leddy of Richmond, VA; and his grandchildren Samuel Mekkelsen of Sanford, ME, Alivia and Tate DeJesus of Virginia Beach, VA, and step-granddaughter Clara McDermott of Grass Valley, CA. In addition, Randy leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who adored him. He was a steady, dependable presence in their lives and loved each of them deeply.
Randy's legacy is one of kindness, hard work, humor, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His memory will be cherished always.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the
Alzheimer's Association (https://donorservices.alz.org) in hopes that one day a cure will be found for this heartbreaking disease.
