Randall Wayne "Louder" Runions, 64, passed away on Sunday, August 17th 2025, in Antioch, Illinois. He was born on October 29th 1961, in McHenry, Illinois.
Known to everyone as "Louder," he was impossible to ignore - even if you tried. His humor, energy, and love for life left a lasting mark.
Throughout his life, Louder called many places home. He grew up in Wauconda, Illinois. He also spent time living in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area, as well as Ellory, South Carolina.
From his stories and letters he shared, to his love of music, art, and fishing, to the silly pranks that sparked laughter, his presence was truly unforgettable. His journey was one-of-a-kind - loud, bold, unapologetic, and full of heart - and his spirit will keep on truckin through everyone who loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Megan Grassel (Aaron); five grandchildren, Riannan, Addison, Ethan, Kaitlyn, and Tyler; great-grandson, Lincoln; sister, Rhonda Hermes; brother, Sean Runions; and many other family members including Devin, Pat, Sheena, Tammy, Dalton, Tricia, David, and countless cousins, aunts, uncle and many beloved friends who shared in his journey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Runions and Brenda & Ron McMullins, and the love of his life, Sharon Apple.
Louder walked his own road - one only he could travel. As the Grateful Dead remind us in one of Louder's favorite songs, "Ripple in still water, when there is no pebble tossed, nor wind to blow." His life created ripples that will carry on forever. And as we look back, we can only smile and say
"What a long, strange trip it's been."
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, tentatively September 13th or 21st, where friends and family will gather to share laughter, stories, music, and memories - just the way Louder would have wanted.
"Once in a while, you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right."
- Scarlet Begonias "Grateful Dead"
