It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Randall Scott Thomas, a beloved father, grandfather, friend, neighbor, and steady presence in the lives of so many. Randall was born October 21, 1943, in Sweetwater, Texas to Kenneth and Marie Thomas. He went home to be with the Lord on February 14, 2026, surrounded by his children and his beloved wife of 54 years.
To his children, he was more than a father — he was a best friend, a confidant, a constant supporter, and a teacher in both word and example. He showed up. Always. Whether it was a late-night rodeo, a hard day, a celebration, or a quiet moment needing encouragement, he was there with steady love and wisdom.
He was a man most at home outdoors, happiest with grease on his hands and purpose in his heart. You could find him working on a truck or a machine, fixing what others thought couldn’t be fixed, or mowing any blade of grass he could reach on his zero turn. Oil-stained denim was his uniform, not because he had to work, but because he chose to serve.
His neighbors knew they could count on him. If there was a project to be done, supplies to lend, or a need to be met, he was already on his way. He gave without hesitation and without judgment. He loved all people — never speaking ill, never turning away. He simply saw a need and fulfilled it. He loved the way God loves — generously, humbly, and without condition.
As devoted as he was to serving others, his greatest joy was his family. He poured himself into his children, encouraging them, teaching them, and showing them by example what integrity, faithfulness, and kindness look like. And when it came to his grandchildren, his heart grew even bigger. Known lovingly as “The Candy Man,” he never missed a chance to spoil them with sweets and smiles, creating memories that will live on in their hearts forever.
His legacy is not found in possessions or accomplishments, but in the countless lives he quietly strengthened, the burdens he lightened, and the love he freely gave.
Though we will miss his steady presence, his laugh, his wisdom, and the hum of his mower in the distance, we carry him with us — in every act of kindness, every helping hand, and every piece of candy shared with love.
He was deeply loved. He will be profoundly missed. And his example will continue to guide us.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth. He is survived by his faithful wife of 54 years Rebecca Thomas. His six daughters Kim (Todd Sousa, Kris (Doug) Ferrell, Katie (Kelly)Thomas, Shawna (Tommy)Burnett, Rachel (Jason) Presley, Pam (Matt) Gray. And a gaggle of grand and great grandchildren. Siblings Pat (Rhiney), Hyde, David (Susie)Thomas, and countless nieces and nephews. As well as friends who he considered family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Bowman, Karlie and Tamatha. As well as the UAMS Cancer institute for two decades of amazing care and Gentiva Hospice for helping him pass as gently as he lived.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the Griffin family, whose fight has just begun. Donate to Support the Griffin Family & Kanes Fight Against Leukemia, organized by Amanda Burgess, https://gofund.me/75bd900f9
