Randall Twiggs, aged 94 years, passed away suddenly on February 6, 2024. He was a lifelong resident of Union County, Georgia and owner of Twiggs Garage and Machine Shop. He was a well-known mechanic throughout the area and was known by many as “boss man.” He built race cars since 1967 and had numerous drivers throughout the years, and was a veteran member of Tri-County Raceway and enjoyed racing at numerous tracks throughout his career. Randall was always there for his family and anyone else in the community that needed him. He was a great husband, dad, and grandfather. He was honest, dependable, compassionate, and fun to be around. (Papa) Randall will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is predeceased by his wife, Kate Ledford Twiggs, parents Jewel Twiggs and Lela Burch Twiggs, sisters Thelma Twiggs McConnell and Bobbi Twiggs Hiener, brothers Frank, Johnny, and Jim Twiggs, and grandson Scotty Roberson. He is survived by his children Jane Davenport, Brenda Lovett, Steve Roberson, and Linda Weeks (Tommy), grandchildren Janie Farist (Shawn), Jonathan Davenport (Rachel), Jamie Reese, Stacy Roberson, Tina Blackstock, and Heather Weeks (Derek), 9 great-grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Mary Twiggs, Mevlyn Ledford, brother-in-law Herman Hogsed, and many nieces and nephews. A special appreciation to Sarah Kelly and Karen Ray (caregivers) for taking such great care of this special person.
Family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home, Blairsville, GA on Thursday, February 8th, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 8 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, February 9th, 2024 at 3 p.m. at Cochran Funeral Home, Blairsville, GA. Graveside will be at Ivy Log Cemetery following funeral services. Pallbearers will be J.L. Davenport, Jim Twiggs, Johnny Chastain, Shawn Chastain, Dexter Stiles, Ricky Arrowood, and Albert Garrett. Josh Ledford will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to SMAfoundation.org, in honor of Mr. Twiggs' great great granddaughter, Mya.
