Randolph Rodriguez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Corleto-Latina Funeral Home and Crematory on Jan. 3, 2023.
A beautiful physical life we loved dearly came to an end on Monday, December 12, 2022, when the Lord dispatched an angel for Randolph "Randy" David Rodriguez to rest in eternal peace. Psalms 34:7-22. Randolph was born on Thursday, November 4, 1948, to the late CMSgt Ismael Rodriguez and Rafaela "Rae" Bonita Rodriguez in Orlando, Florida.
Randy grew up around Air Force military installations throughout his childhood. When his younger brother Richard "Rick" Charles Rodriguez was born in New York in 1950, Randy became an ecstatic big brother. The Rodriguez Family had assignments in London, England and Mira Loma, California that Randy truly enjoyed. When Randy was in high school his father received orders to Andrews AFB in Clinton, Maryland. Randy loved California and the move to Maryland was challenging for him but he adjusted and made the most of it. Randy believed strongly in inclusion and participated in the historic March on Washington led by Rev Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr in 1963. He also attended and graduated from Suitland High School in 1965. Randy went on to explore the workforce and got his first job at McDonalds in Forestville, Maryland.
By 1969 Randy began taking college classes at Prince George's Community College. He was drafted in 1970 and became a commissioned officer in the Army during the Vietnam War era. Which enabled Lt Rodriguez to not only serve his country but also purchase a 1969 Dodge Charger Super Bee (black with yellow stripes) which ended up of course being his favorite car. Upon discharge from the Army in 1972 Randy moved to Pennsylvania and learned to play the banjo and the harmonica. Randy was a lover of music, art and continuous learning. He always embraced the world around him and numerous passions that peaked his interests. One hobby in particular he enjoyed was string art. Randy's father Ismael taught him how to create and complete String Art. (String Art is an arrangement of colored thread strung between nailed points to form geometric patterns or representational designs).
Randy's notable careers involved his position working at the United States Postal Office in Capitol Heights, MD. As well as being an entrepreneur of grounds and building maintenance. Randy created "The Lot Man" business in PG County and got a contract with Mitchellville Plaza that he was very excited about and would extend job opportunities he had to family and friends to make a few dollars because he believed in spreading the wealth. Above all else Randy was a devout Christian and loved the Lord!! Randy was embraced in Heaven by The Lord as well as by his parents Ismael & Rafaela; his first grandson, Juan David Rodriguez and his brother Richard; as well as other loving ancestors.
"To everything- there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 Randy loved the four seasons of weather on the East Coast. In the winter season you could expect Randy and his kids to scope out the best snow hills for sledding (and if he didn't have a real sled he would create a makeshift sled). Some of the best hills he enjoyed were the Budweiser Hills and Bethel United Church. During the spring season Randy loved the outdoors and going on frequent outings to Watkins Park and to Theodore Roosevelt Island to teach his children about nature while walking through numerous trails and making it an exciting cost-free adventure. During the summer season Randy loved taking his children on annual trips up to Rehoboth Beach and Lewes Beach in Delaware as well as Sandy Point and Ocean City, Maryland. Randy was naturally drawn to the ocean and was thrilled about boogie boarding and teaching his children this favorite water activity. Finally, in the fall season Randy loved going to local ponds to feed ducks and geese as well as finding flat rocks to skip on the water. He also enjoyed bike rides, the National Zoo as well as the Baltimore aquarium. If you ever had a chance to ride in the car with Randy and a tunnel or underpass arose you could expect to be a part of the "hold your breath challenge" Ahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Close family members that will always honor and cherish Randy's memory and legacy are: his loving sons, Jeremy (Sharita) and Seth (Jen). His darling daughters, Miriam (Tino); Rachel (Anthony); Leah (Will, Sr) and Kayla (Shaun). Along with Randy's grandchildren: (Juan (in spirit), Antonio "Tonio", Freddie, Kiarra "Kiki", Marquise, Elijah, Naheem, Nazir "Naz", Aureliana "Reli", Miriano "Rigo", William, Frank and Leah). Along with many more family and close friends that were blessed to know and love Randy during this lifetime.
Randy's life spoke volumes through his passion for art and how he nurtured his relationships with his loved ones. He was a self-made entrepreneur who aimed to create success and lead his family into greatness. To his children, he is the strongest person they know and would do anything in his power to protect them. He wasn't a dreamer but a believer. Randy found peace with his Christian faith and his love for Jesus Christ and embodied positive and joyful energy into the world. We pray that Randy's eternal amazing light always continues to shine through Agape Love!!

I was stationed with Randy in Indiantown Gap Pennsylvania. We all had our "Muscle" cars and would patrol the mountains in a convoy of power. Randy would start his training with a cassette playing from Black Sabbath Group "I am Iron Man". Randy was a Great Officer and Friend. Though I hadn't seen or talked to Randy in 50+ years, I many times reflect on my time served in the Military with Him. Randy Rest in Peace Sir!
