Randy Brown Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 23, 2025.
Randy Dean Brown passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA, surrounded by family. He has now been reunited with his beloved wife, Kathi.

Born on January 11, 1951, to Lauren and Grace Brown, Randy grew up in Spokane and graduated from Freeman High School. He went on to attend Washington State University, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Education and, more importantly, met the love of his life, Kathi. The two were married on August 11, 1973, and during their honeymoon discovered the Skagit Valley, a place they immediately knew they wanted to call home.

Randy began his teaching career in 1974 at Mount Vernon High School, where he remained until his retirement in 2011. Over 37 years, he served as an Agriculture Educator and FFA Advisor, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students. Through his classroom, shop, and FFA program, he inspired countless young people to learn, grow, and lead.

Beyond teaching, Randy and Kathi's greatest joy was their family. They loved raising their sons, Cory and Kyle, in the Skagit Valley, watching them grow up at Mount Vernon High School and discover their passions through FFA and the golf team. Both boys went on to attend Washington State University, pursue careers as golf course superintendents, and find the loves of their lives. Randy and Kathi took great pride in seeing their family grow and were devoted grandparents to Cooper and Piper. They never missed a band concert, volleyball game, football match, wrestling meet, swim event, school play, or talent show-their love, presence, and support were the heart of the Brown family.

Randy is survived by his sons Cory (Nikki) and Kyle (Tracy), grandchildren Cooper and Piper, brother Steve (Molly), and nieces Monica and Stephanie and their families. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathi, brother Rick, and parents Lauren and Grace.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 11 at 2pm at the Mount Vernon High School Gym.
