Stanley "Stan" Gene Smith, 72, of Riverton, Wyoming, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, in Riverton.

Stan was born July 21, 1953, in Tacoma, Washington, to Carl Leroy Smith and Margaret Bernice Stucks. He grew up in Mount Vernon, Washington, and Brea, California, attending Laurel Elementary School and Brea Olinda High School.

On September 20, 1970, he married the love of his life in Mount Vernon, Washington. Throughout his life he lived in Mount Vernon, Washington; Brea, California; and Riverton, Wyoming, where he built a life centered on hard work and family.

Stan worked as an iron welder and took great pride in working with his hands. Among his accomplishments, he helped build the house of Bob Hope. He was an avid woodworker who also enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he loved spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.

Stan was a Christian and lived his life with faith and dedication to those he loved.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Jaime) Smith of Riverton, Wyoming; Sharon (Min) Moreno of Marbelton, Wyoming; Melissa Allen of Riverton, Wyoming; Heather McGarr of Riverton, Wyoming; and Daniel (Kate) Smith of Lacey, Wyoming; 24 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Leroy Smith and Margaret Bernice Stucks; his son, David Paul Smith; and his grandparents, Ethel and William Stucks and Mimi and Emmit Smith.

In accordance with Stan's wishes, no services will be held.

Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Davis Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home Crematory and Monuments of Riverton, Wyoming.
