Our beloved mother, grandma, and great grandma, Randy DeHart, nee Pierson passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on July 24, 2025 after surviving a major stroke and brain surgery. She was 79 years of age.
Randy was the heart of our home and family. She is survived by her three children, Heather (Dave) Overmyer, Bethany (Richard) Schreier, and Michael (Anila) DeHart, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and her brother Jeff (Amy) Pierson. She was preceded in death by her soulmate, John DeHart and by her adoring parents, Ray J. and Ann Chard Pierson.
Randy was born on April 19, 1946 in Dee Hospital in
Ogden, UT. From a young age, Randy was known for her unwavering kindness, strong wit, and deep love for both her family and friends.
On February 14th, 1968 she married her loving husband of 56 years, John whom she built a life of love, devotion and joy with.
Randy had many professions throughout her life as her and John moved to new locations and adventures across the country. In 1968 while living in Ogden UT, she worked for her parents at Pierson Kearney Printing then in 1970 she was in the classified ad department at the Ogden Standard Examiner. In 1971 following a move to Colorado, Randy worked at the Colorado Springs Sun Newspaper while John was stationed at Fort Carson. She helped John type transcripts for the NLRB and the NTSB in 1976 while they lived in Illinois. When the family moved to New Jersey in 1983, she decided to work part time at an Oral Surgery Office as a secretary and billing processor, which she enjoyed immensely. After the family moved again in 1989, this time to Madison CT, Randy became the office manager for a general practicing doctor working part time and running the office with ease. She briefly worked for John and his business when they finally settled in Tucson Az, finally officially retiring in 1998 to assist with the care of her aging mother.
Randy loved to travel with John and visit countries all over the world. She had traveled to Hawaii-three times, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Prague, Cabo San Lucas, Albania, UK and Ireland. She also loved her many trips around the US with her grandchildren and John and spending as much time as she could with her family and friends. She was an avid reader, volunteered at the local library extension store and even fulfilled her life time dream of becoming a published author, finishing her book earlier this year. Randy loved Christmas, so much so that Christmas stayed up at her home all year round! Randy was a loving and welcoming wife, mother, grandma, great grandma and an excellent friend. Randy will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by all.
A visitation will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, on August 9, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a graveside service in the Liberty Cemetery, 3929 North 3500 East, Liberty, Utah.
