Obituary
Randall S. Hake
December 10, 1951- February 26,2026
Randall S. Hake (also known as Randy, Ran, or Randu), 74, passed away at his home in Worland on February 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Randy was born on December 10, 1951, to Ray Hake and Barbara Smith Hake as their second child, joining his older sister, Janis. He was raised in Worland and graduated from Worland High School with the Class of 1970. During his youth, he was a skilled marble player and won multiple championships. After graduation, he attended Arizona State University, earning his degree in 1975.
Following college, Randy returned to Worland and began working as an insurance agent at the Hake Agency. While living in Arizona, he met the love of his life, Mary Jo Pitarresi. The two were married in 1977 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in her hometown of Niagara Falls, New York. Through their marriage, Randy became a beloved member of Mary Jo's large Italian family, cherishing the warmth and closeness of the extended clan.
Together, Randy and Mary Jo raised four beautiful children: Jedediah, Emily, Benjamin, and Jonathan.
Randy was a proud member of the Worland Elks since 1978. He was an avid golfer - well known for occasionally throwing his clubs when the game didn't go his way. He bowled in the Tuesday night league and hosted Thursday night poker at the Hake home while Mary Jo worked night shifts at the Worland hospital. The regular attendees became affectionately known by their children as "the Poker guys," a name that remains to this day.
Above all, Randy was a devoted and involved father who rarely missed a single event in his children's lives, no matter how far the drive was. Randy and his family spent lots of time at their family cabin during the summers, going up to the mountain almost every weekend. Some of their favorite memories were made there - watching the Ten Sleep Fourth of July celebration, then heading back to the cabin for barbecue and a spirited badminton tournament. He loved fishing and hunting, and often took his children bird hunting. He also treasured long drives in his old Toyota Land Cruiser, Pink Floyd and Tom Petty blasting through the speakers. He also enjoyed holidays with family, especially hiding Easter eggs at Easter and distributing presents at Christmas.
Randy deeply enjoyed time spent with Mary Jo's family and treasured his visits to Niagara Falls, especially the Fratello family reunions and time spent at Mary Jo's sister's home, fondly known as the Lanahan spa.
He had a love for gambling and made weekly trips to Riverton, along with annual anniversary trips to Deadwood. He also enjoyed his daily drives around Worland, a simple pleasure that brought him peace. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed calling bingo for his grandkids, a tradition that brought laughter and plenty of friendly competition.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jo Hake; his children, Jed (Angela) Hake, Emily Hake, Ben (Dusty) Hake, and Jonathan (Sadami) Hake; six grandchildren, two granddogs, and two great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Barbara Hake; his stepmother, Pearl Marie Hake; his sister, Janis Palmer; his brother-in-law, John Palmer; and his nephew, Kevin Palmer.
Celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm on March 6th (Fri) at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Worland. Memorial donations may be made to Washakie Hospital Foundation Cancer Fund. Please send checks to PO Box 524
