Maloy F. Poor; born September 26th, 1950 in
Fort Smith, Arkansas, died peacefully at home in
Worland, Wyoming on February 15, 2026 at the age of 75. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Margaret Melinda (Price) Poor and Lloyd Francis Poor, younger sister; Malinda Tucker and his grandson; Doby Maloy Poor.
Maloy grew up in Oklahoma working on his family farm, he graduated from Avant High School in 1968, There he was an outstanding athlete, playing football, volleyball and baseball. Following high school, he was offered a baseball scholarship at Rose State College in Claremore, Oklahoma. While in college Maloy felt called to serve his country, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in February of 1970; During the Vietnam war, he was stationed at Udorn Air Force Base in Thailand. Following his service overseas as a dog handler in the 341st Security Forces Squadron, he was stationed in Great Falls, Montana. After his honorable discharge in November of 1973, he returned to Oklahoma where he became a father to his 3 children: Anjela, Jayson and Joshua. He continued cowboying throughout Oklahoma and Wyoming where he often took jobs that his children could work alongside him. He permanently moved to Wyoming in 1988. He was perhaps a self-ascribed nomad. Maloy was a man of many coats and colors, and he was proud of his Cherokee and Choctaw heritage. He carried a tough guy persona, but those who really knew him know he was a lovable, kind, and good-hearted man. If you were one of his people, he would do anything for you. He especially loved his great-grandbabies and truly believed they could do no wrong. He always pushed the limits and gave all that he had, no matter what he was doing!
Maloy met the love of his life, Christie Elaine (Minchow) Woodin; and they were married on May 24th, 2008 in
Worland, Wyoming. He made her life fun again, and he spent the rest of his life making her feel special. They enjoyed their life together; often spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, 4-wheeling, and camping. Maloy had finally found someone who truly loved him for who he was, and he cared deeply for Christie. He loved to playfully antagonize and tease everyone, especially his wife! He really just got a kick out of pissing people off!
Maloy was a devoted family man in his later years, enjoying many great memories with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren which they will carry with them.
