Randy was born in Alpena on September 11, 1958, to the late Harvey and Judy (Egelski) Hompstead. On June 29, 1996, he married Judy Mason. He loved fishing and hunting.
Surviving are his wife, Judy; 3 children, Jamie (Don) Clay, Stephanie Maida, Richard Schmidt; 8 grandchildren, Kaydee (Jake) Smolinski, Kelly Clay, Kristy Clay, Kyle Clay, Eva May Maida, Elivia Maida, Evan Maida, Evalynn Maida; 2 great grandchildren, Ely Lytle, Ellie Lytle; 7 siblings, Renae (Randy) Dault, Rhonda Montie, Roxanne Hompstead, Lisa Halvorson, Robin (Irvin) Bredow, Jeff (Bernadette) Schuelke, Hugh Hompstead, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hompstead was preceded in death by a brother, David Schuelke.
Cremation arrangements have been handled by the Bannan Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place later this summer.
