Randy Joe Laughlin, a cherished father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, in
Odessa, Texas, at the age of 66. Born on June 1, 1959, in Pasadena, Texas, Randy's life was a testament to the enduring power of love, kindness, and an unyielding spirit of generosity.
Randy's journey began as the beloved son of Zanada Goodwin and Eugene Laughlin. Throughout his life, he embraced the values instilled in him by his parents, becoming a man of light and strength for his family and community. Although he was preceded in death by his parents, his son Elisha Laughlin, and his siblings Matthew Laughlin, David Laughlin, and Rhonda Walker, Randy's legacy of love and laughter lives on through his family.
He is survived by his son Clay Heiskell; his daughters Tannah Ferguson, Bonnie Armstrong, and Myranda Guidry; his brother Jeffrey Laughlin; his sisters Pamela Laughlin and Vonnie Currie; and his adored grandchildren Anya, Aziel, Weston, Calvin, Ty, Aubrey, and Addison. Each of them carries a piece of Randy's heart and spirit, and they will continue to honor his memory through the lessons he taught and the memories they shared.
Randy's life was one of purpose and joy. Known affectionately as "Handy Randy," he was a self-employed craftsman who could fix anything and everything. For over twenty years, his skillful hands and clever mind brought comfort and aid to those who needed it most. His willingness to help the elderly and offer them kindness through his work was a hallmark of his character.
Beyond his professional expertise, Randy was a father who created a world of wonder and love for his children. He raised them in the country, where life was filled with unexpected delights, from cracking eggs on his head as a playful remedy for hair growth to surprising them with a dwarf cow upon their return from Houston. Randy's unique sense of humor and his commitment to family values left an indelible impression on his children, shaping them into the compassionate individuals they are today.
His tough exterior belied a sensitive soul, one that never complained about the hand he was dealt in life. Randy was a man of profound emotional strength, always ready to lend an ear to those in need. To speak with him was to feel understood and safe, a rare gift he gave freely to all who sought his counsel.
Above all, Randy cherished the time he spent with his family. He never missed an opportunity to be present, to share in both the joys and the challenges. His love was unwavering, his kindness boundless, and his ability to fix not just the broken but also the hurting made him an irreplaceable presence in the lives of those who knew him.
As Randy would say, "Deedah Deedah.
