We gather today to celebrate the life of a remarkable man, Ronald Duane Davis, affectionately known as Ron, who was called home by his Lord and Savior on January 20, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on June 13, 1948, in the small town of
Wellington, Texas, Ron's journey on this earth concluded in
Odessa, Texas, concluding a life marked by dedication, love, and faith.
A graduate of Odessa High School in 1965, Ron's quest for knowledge led him to Baptist Christian College, where he earned his Bachelor's in Science, further enriching his mind at the University of Texas Permian Basin with a Master's of Arts and Education. His commitment to education was unwavering as evidenced by his 40-year tenure with the Ector County Independent School District, where he served in numerous roles. From beginning as a sixth-grade teacher to his impactful time as Principal of Alamo Elementary, and even as the Director of Maintenance for the school district, Ron shaped countless lives with his intelligence and selfless service.
Ron's community contributions went beyond the realm of education. His involvement with the Permian Basin Fair Board spanned 24 years, including his leadership as President in 2010. He was a stalwart advocate for children through his dedication to the CASA program and shaped young hearts during his eight years on the board for Christian Youth Night. His fellow brethren in the Free Masons knew him as a Master Mason, a title befitting his deep commitment to the values of brotherhood and service.
A man of profound faith, Ron found joy in worship at the West Texas Cowboy Church. His membership there, spanning nearly 15 years, was not just about attendance but about community and connection. Ron's faith was a cornerstone of his existence, a faith that was filled to the brim and overflowing into every area of his life.
Ron's love for music was undeniable, often found playing at Dumplin's and Country Cafe with his bandmates, where his melodies lifted spirits and warmed hearts. His passions extended to the great outdoors, with a rod or rifle in hand, Ron cherished every opportunity to fish and hunt, embracing the beauty of God's creation. And those leisurely afternoons spent on the golf course afforded him moments of camaraderie and reflection.
Ron's legacy of love and laughter is carried on by his family who he adored with every fiber of his being. He is survived by his son, Alan Davis and his wife, Amy, of Groesbeck, TX; his daughter, Angela Cook of
