Mr. Randy Wayne McDowell, beloved husband of Cheryl McDowell, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Doctor’s Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025 in the Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home on Belair Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 12:00 PM.
Randy was born to Ernest and Ruth McDowell in Montgomery, Alabama in 1954. He had an easy going personality with the ability to make many friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Bass Masters at Clark’s Hill in the 1980s. He was an avid participant in his hobby of flying remote control airplanes and was the Vice President of the Trenton RC Flyers. He loved music and was a very talented drummer as the
original drummer of the band, Robin Dixon and the Midnight Moon. He also served as the drummer in the praise team for Faith Community Church for many years.
We celebrate that he is now in heaven free of sickness, suffering and pain.
In addition to his wife, Cheryl, he is survived by his children, Michelle McDowell Waters (Russell), Matthew R. McDowell (Jamie), and Lindsay McDowell (Kevin Compton), his grandchildren Courtney Waters (Jonathan Miskelly), Ansley Waters, Bailey McDowell, Kaylyn McDowell, Landon McDowell, Kameron Compton, and Kaia Compton, and great grandchild Charlotte Miskelly, and his brother Charles McDowell (Danette).
If so desired and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the treasurer of Trenton R/C Flyers. Checks should be made payable to David Williamson and sent to David Williamson, 111 E Arlington Hts, N Augusta, SC 29841 or to his PayPal address at [email protected]. These should be marked as ‘memorial fund for Randy McDowell’
